Henry Kissinger

He was born in Fürth and emigrated to the USA at the age of 10. He was US Secretary of State from 1973 to 1977 and was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
Ludwig Erhard

He is regarded as the father of the Social Market Economy and as being responsible for the German "Wirtschaftswunder" (economic miracle). He was Federal Minsiter of Economics between 1949 and 1963 and Federal Chancellor from 1963 to 1966.
Max Grundig

He is considered one of the greatest German business pioneers of the post-war period. His electrics enterprise Grundig AG became the largest radio manufacturer in Europe.
Gustav and Grete Schickedanz

Following the American blueprint, Gustav Schickedanz founded the Quelle mail order company in 1927 with headquarters in Fürth. After his death, Grete Schickedanz continued the business, generating billions in turnover.

The Fürth native was an outstanding German-Jewish writer. Since 1995, the City of Fürth has been awarding the Jakob Wassermann Literary Prize every two years.
