Fürth from above

Viewpoints

A view from above is an indispensable highlight of any city trip. There are also numerous places in Fürth that reward you with breathtaking views after a more or less strenuous climb. From this perspective, the city appears in a whole new light and reveals its impressive diversity. It also shows just how green Fürth really is.

The top 5 viewpoints in Fürth

1. Fürth town hall tower

The town hall tower offers a phenomenal view over Fürth and the surrounding area. 215 steps lead up through various staircases to the 55-meter-high tower. On the way up, you will not only come across the “Amtsschimmel”, but also important events and artifacts from Fürth's city history. You also pass the bell-ringer's room, the impressive clockwork and various falconry boxes. The town hall tower can be visited as part of a guided tour.

2. Café "Dächla"

The “Dächla” café on the Neue Mitte is a free viewing platform. From here, you have a panoramic view of the pedestrian zone and the town hall. Even in bad weather, it is worth visiting the integrated public library, from whose glass façade you can enjoy a beautiful view of Südstadt and Fürther Freiheit. The newly designed café “Dächla” (formerly Terrazza) is a great place to enjoy the view with a drink or snack!

3. Church steeples with a view

Fürth's church towers also offer the opportunity to see the cloverleaf city from above. Both the church tower of the old town church of St. Michael and that of the Church of the Resurrection in the city park can be climbed on special dates. St. Paul's Church has the highest church tower in Fürth. Behind the organ, you walk past the rose window (original window 1900) up into the clock room, past the bells to the viewing level at the height of the clock faces.

4. Solarberg

The “summit” of the former rubble mountain offers a wonderful view of Fürth and the surrounding area. The top of the hill has been developed with paved paths to make it more accessible. In addition, benches invite visitors to linger and informative display boards provide interesting information. An excursion to the Solarberg can be perfectly combined with a cycle tour, as the path is perfectly connected to the Fürth cycle path network.

5. Alte Veste

The Alte Veste was built between 1228 and 1235 as a so-called tower hill castle on the Rosenberg near Zindorf. Formerly used for war purposes, today's fortress is a fantastic and free viewing platform. There are no less than 162 steps and 28 meters of altitude to climb, but it's worth it! From the top, you can enjoy a fantastic view over Fürth, Nuremberg, Zirndorf, the Fürth district and, on a good day, even far into Franconian Switzerland.
