Kulturforum Fürth

Short facts

  • Fürth

Kulturforum Fürth nestles idyllically on the banks of the Rednitz.

Founded in 2004 for the purpose, Kulturstiftung Fürth initiated the exemplary restoration and extension of the former municipal slaughterhouse to become a multifaceted cultural centre. With its two event venues comprising a large and small concert hall, a spacious light-filled foyer and forecourt, which can also be used to stage performances, the Kulturforum is designed to host a variety of events.

The successful blend of past and present architecture is also reflected in the cultural centre’s creative objectives: the wide-ranging programme includes traditional and contemporary pieces, established and experimental genres, regional and international players. Under the aegis of the city's cultural office, the programme focuses on high-calibre concerts from jazz and classic to pop, guest and in-house performances of plays for children aged three to seven years old, and multidisciplinary theatre and art projects staged as in-house or co-productions. The Kulturforum is also the permanent venue for the major festivals in the city: the Klezmer festival, puppet theatre festival and LESEN!, the literary festival.

Since 2004, the Kulturforum has also hosted the city theatre, which regularly uses the unusual pillared architecture of the large hall as a stage for unconventional and modern theatre and dance productions.
